Posted: Mon Nov 08, 2021 7:10 pm
WALK IS NOW CLOSED
UPDATE......DUE TO THE NORINHA CAFE BEING CLOSED AND WALK ON 22 NOVEMBER BEING MOVED TO O GRALHA, THIS WALK WILL NOW BE THE VALE DE FUZEIROS....SAME RESTAURANT/SAME TIME.
"This is an old favourite, it is circular, well marked and here are a couple, or so, of uphill stretches...actually, about 6....some quite steep, with loose shale. Walking boots/stout trainers recommended and walking poles.
Beautiful views, ancient menhirs & tombs!
Hi all
We had such a nice lunch at O Gralha in Fuzeiros today, that I would like to go again....BUT they close in December BUT would open on monday
6 December IF we are a party of at least 12.
Please advise below if interested.....if we have enough people, I will publish details of walk.....about 2.5 hours by barragem....if not, we'll go elsewhere.
For those that weren't there today, cost is about 10€ pp all inclusive, but choice will be limited to 2 options for main course.
Geoff
UPDATE
There aren't enough people to persuade the O Gralha to specially open, so we'll do the planned walk but from the Casa de Vinha. We haven't been there for some time, but have received some good reports. Lunch is more a la carte, but total cost should be around 13/14 €, say 15€ with tip....so let's make this our Christmas Lunch as unfortunately Sue & I go back to UK on 9 December.
It's a just over 2.5 hours and it has at least one steady incline, but is otherwise predominantly flat(ish).
Difficulty ( on a scale of 1:5) : most is 2 (moderate) but a short part is 3(energetic).
Start : 10.00.....but please be there by 0945 if you want a coffee and order lunch.
Duration :about 2 hours to 2 hours 30 mins.
Optional lunch at Casa de Vinha. As above, expect 12/13€ pp plus tip.
Dogs. Dogs are allowed as long as they are under control and are quiet.
Directions : drive from CVO to Silves, go over the bridge and turn right and follow the N124 for about 7 kms until you see a turning on the left signposted "Barragem do Arade 3 kms".......the signpost is in a small triangular traffic island, which has a large palm tree on it.
Then drive in the direction of the Barragem for 1km when there is a cafe on the left ( A Rainha): turn right, signposted Canestros and Gregorios.
Drive through both Canestros and Gregarios for 3kms then make a sharp left turn, almost doubling back on yourself.
Drive for 2kms until you come to a T junction at the top of the hill, turn right , drive through the village and the Casa de Vinha is about half way through the village on the right. You can park in carpark at back.
Map ref : 37.2503244,-8.3525915,564
Usual caveats - all walks are at your own risk, and we do not walk if it is pouring with rain.....I will endeavour to put any cancellation note on this site by 0830 on the day of the walk.
Please advise if you are intending to come, and whether you want lunch
Due to the recent increase in numbers, I am limiting this walk to a max of c20 people.
Any questions , please ask or ring 282 380015 preferably between 1800-1900 or before 0900.
