WALK - MONDAY 27 SEPTEMBER 2021 - CISTUS VALLEY

Linda will be leading this walk. We meet in Figueira and then drive to the start of the walk. Then we head out into a peaceful valley with lots of running streams, lakes and even a gorge. The walk is around 10kms and not too difficult but it is recommended to bring a pole to assist with the many water crossings and wobbly stepping stones. From the valley bottom we make a gentle climb up the gradual hill to the top of the ridge to enjoy views over the hills towards Monchique. We have a downhill stretch on uneven ground. The usual rules apply: wear suitable footwear, bring a pole if you have one, bring a drink, no charge of course.
We meet at Cafe Ruby in Figueira and then drive for 5 minutes to the start of the walk. Meeting time: 9:30am. The cafe may be open for a coffee at the start.
We will then drive past the restaurant Solar Do Farelo, and along the CM1145 for the start of the walk, parking is very limited there. We may have to car share to the start.
If anyone wants to stay for lunch after the walk the cafe has a nice outside terrace and the offer a set menu for around 10 euros.
Directions to Cafe Ruby: Drive along the N125 West, past Alvor turning, about 2kms further on at the 2nd small roundabout with a sign for Figueira take the first right up the hill. The road bends round to the left and then you go straight across the small crossroads. Cafe Ruby is about 200 metres along on the right hand side. Parking is on the opposite side or just after the Cafe in the "sports bar" parking area.
