Forever the optimist, we hope to be able to come out in June and lead a walk, my first since September last year....hope the memory banks still work and not too much has changed.....

It's flat along the lavada to start, has 5 minutes of back road and then is all on country tracks, many of them uphill but with quite a long climb in the early stages,(about ten/fifteen minutes) up some scree, and is quite steep in places, but after that the paths are good and there is a gentle descent, along with some lovely views....if It's too hot, we''ll take the shady alternative!

Duration : last time 2h 40m.....10.2km, 332m ascent, according to Colin, which sounds & felt about right....if we don't take a short cut!

I assume that the cafe is open for coffees/beers/lunches. If people want to stay for lunch, then the cafe has been tried and recommended : menu and size is limited but they do a good grilled meat or fish prata de dia. Optional lunch price is 8.5€ for chicken/pork/Carapau/chicken with chick peas but 12.5€ for Dorada......but please note new lunch price policy at viewtopic.php?f=39&t=27800 so , as no one will have any change, cost will be 10€ for chicken/pork etc and 15€ for dorada. We will need to order before the walk.

Degree of Difficulty ( scale 1:5 ) : the steep climb makes that part a grade 4 ( strenuous) but the rest is overall grade 2 or 2.5.

Start: 0930 as its summer .....but please arrive by 0915 if you want a coffee!

Directions : drive from Carvoeiro to Silves, go over the bridge and turn right and follow the N124 for about 3.2 kms until you see Cafe Casa de Pasto a Norinho on your left : park in layby opposite.

It is ESSENTIAL that you indicate below if you can come and whether you want lunch, as numbers for walk will be limited to 20 ( being optimistic again...).....am not sure what the policy will be for lunches by then ( it's 10 outside at moment) so it would be prudent to limit the number for lunch to 10.

Walking boots/stout trainers recommended and walking poles.

Usual caveats - all walks are at your own risk, and we do not walk if it is pouring with rain...no charge, of course...I will endeavour to put any cancellation note on this site by 0830 on the day of the walk.
