Our last walk of the season, back in October.

PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF START POINT

Degree of difficulty ( scale 1 to 5 ) : 2 Moderate...some say borderline 2.5!

A steady incline through a forest, then a nice gentle downhill slope to the barragem and a flat walk back along the lavada. There is one stretch ( about 50m) along a narrow trail through some scrub, so you might prefer not to wear shorts...but I will be!

Duration : about 2 hours 45 mins.

Optional lunch The cafe has been tried and recommended : menu and size is limited but they do a good grilled meat or fish or prata de dia. Price is 8.5€ for chicken/pork/Carrapau/chicken with chick peas but 12.5€ for Dorada......but please note new lunch price policy at viewtopic.php?f=39&t=27800 so , as no one will have any change, cost will be 10€ for chicken/pork etc and 15€ for dorada. We will need to order before the walk.

Directions : drive from Carvoeiro to Silves, go over the bridge and turn right and follow the N124 for about 3.2 kms until you see Cafe Casa de Pasto a Norinho on your left : park in layby opposite.

Start : 10.00...but please be there by 0945 if you want a coffee and/or lunch as we have to order lunches before the walk.

Wear stout trainers/walking boots....a walking pole would be useful. Sunhats hopefully recommended, but some wet weather gear might come in handy.

Please note that the walk will be cancelled of the weather is poor. I shall put a note on this website at about 0830 that morning, 0900 at the latest.

Well, everyone bar Graeme & Marian noted the change of start place, but they were only 5 mins late....but we did straggle rather a lot ; look closely and you will see 3 groups of walkers ( & that excludes the lead group!)...and it was FLAT:
hence, instead of going on the barragem/lavada walk , decided it might be more prudent to just wander off into the hills and hope we didn't get lost....but what exactly is this?

2 h 35 mins, about 10.5km before back for a beer and lunch....19 walkers, 14 lunchers...
Sharon had decided that white wine was preferable to vino tinto...

and Willie didn't want to waste a blade....
which gave Sharon the idea of saving the wine in the water bottle...
We were able to give Su a grand total of 434€ for her Supporting Families Charity.....125€ from Linda & Russell walks, 15€ from Graham for the lunch he had at the Mira Rio, the balance from our CVO walks since october. Well done everyone.....a big advance on the 149.5€ for last year.

This was our last walk of the season....thanks for your companionship, see you all again in October.
