Hi all

Geoff and Sue aregoing back to the grey UK but Carol has volunteered to lead a walk by the confluence of the Arade and the Odelouca...the Mira Rio Cafe/Restaurant does a good €8 Prato de Dia for those who want lunch after!

Degree of difficulty: 1, easy, One very short hill up through the village, another very short one up to the levada from the (probably shut) cafe

Around the Ilha do Rosario , beautiful views of the river confluence of the Arade and the Odelouca. It should take about 2 hours & is easy(ish)......nearly all flat. Distance about 9km or 5 miles. It is similar to the "Sunflower Landscapes" walk or the Julie Stratham walk.

Directions: from CVO , cross the bridge into Silves & turn left on the R124 towards Montchique/Portimao. After a little under 5 km you will see the Mira Rio cafe & restaurant on your left after a sharpish right hand bend. Parking is at the cafe , which is handy for a drink after!

Start at 1000.

Stout trainers/boots & a bottle of water suggested! Take your binoculars if you are a bird watcher. A walking pole is certainly useful......if the weather changes, bring some wet weather gear but I expect they won't be walking if it's really wet!

Any cancellation notice will be posted by 0830/0900 on the day.

No charge of course.

All walks are at your own risk.

Please indicate below if you can come.

Any queries to me 282 359 792 before 9.15 Monday, 0044 77151 74724 any time

Have fun!
Carol :D

Hope to join you. I've got a bit of a bad back today, so possibly need to see how it is tomorrow before totally committing. Will do our best, but if we're not there by the time you're ready to set off, please take it that we're not coming and go without us.

Carol reports :

"Monday started off a bit wet, was raining heavily as we drove to Silves, calmed down to a drizzle as we were about to set out, then dried off and we even had some sun on our way round. There were only 7 stalwarts, Bruce and Julia, Russell and Linda, Jenny was accompanied by her friend Tonya and they kindly gave me a lift. We finished the walk in well under two hours, so had to have a drink before lunch at Mira Rio.
Julia had brought her camera so we have photographic evidence of the sunshine. I have attached her photos, and we would all appreciate it if you had the time and inclination to post them on the website for us."

Looks like it was well worth braving the early rain....very envious....I must give some lessons in posting write-ups & pictures on the site!
