Hi all

A fairly gentle introduction to the new walking season, and one we haven't done since september 2011, so hope we remember the way!

10.00 start, fairly easy walk with a long slow uphill gradient and lovely views from the top, about 2 hours. One steep , but short, bit. We also visit the windmill.
Stout trainers should suffice, boots better. Poles if you have them!
Don“t forget some water and a hat!....and perhaps some rain wear!...but if its very wet, we won't be going.

Directions:
From CVO, go over bridge into Silves and turn left on N124.
Drive about 2kms , past Continent supermarket on right hand side.
Take first right, drive about 1 km till reach " No Entry " sign : turn left then right after about 50 yards, and park in square in front of the Cantinha da Lina.
Any problems, ring 282 380015 before 0915.
Please indicate below if you can come.
No charge, of course.

All walks are at your own risk.

Hope to see you all

Geoff

PS
I am not absolutely sure if the cafe is open on a monday in January : are there any readers nearby who could perhaps check? If not, am sure we can find another!

Geoff, My wife (Anna) and I are visiting this area for a few weeks and would love to join you for the walk on Monday 7/1, if that's OK.

18 intrepid walkers started out from the cafe, even after my deliberate mistake of calling Pasteleria O Corlinhos the Cantinha da Lina.....why,I cannot imagine, perhaps it has changed name since we went there last.....and it is about 100m up the road, not the 50 I said!
Oh well!...this is Portugal, after all.
We managed to end up with only 16, as Nick & Fey opted to come back their own way, having taken such an age to walk down from the windmill ; fortunately,I managed to spot them ( walking the wrong way ) and we all eventually found our way back for a well earned drink.

Morals for future : appoint a back marker who knows the way, and tell everyone that blowing a whistle is to attract their attention, not just to annoy the local canine population!

We welcomed some new faces , Peter and Anna, along with a god turnout of familiar ones. A promising start to the new year's walks.
