Walk: Thursday 31 December 2009

Post by Geoff »

Meet at 1000. Great for working up a thirst for the evening's celebrations.

Meet outside the cemetery in Silves & walk up to the windmill & loop back via the beautiful countryside beyond. About 2 hours. (Directions: driving from CVO to Silves , go over the bridge & turn right. At the roundabout , turn left towards the town & the cemetery is about 100m on the right).

No charge , of course.

For a map of start point, see walk on 12 March.

There are a couple of brief, steep sections. Wear walking boots or stout trainers.

Geoff, do you have any more walkers? Sharen did not bring her trainers so it's just me now. Also, the weather is a bit hit and miss at the moment so I have pm'd you my mobile to keep me informed. The forum isn't the best way to contact me so a text would be favourite.

Michael
Tell Sharon there's lots of trainer shps in Lagoa , so that's not an excuse!
Doesn't look as if there are any more walkers yet, but live in hope!
Walk will be "on" unless wether is very poor

Hi Geoff (and Michael!)
We are hoping to join you for the NYE walk on Thursday - it is one of our favourite walks so, unless it is absolutely chucking it down 4 of us will be there 10am Thursday. Have pm'd Geoff with our phone numbers and I've still got Michael's numbers from last year. Hope to meet up with you then.

Hi Alison, Simon & all
Great to see such a late spurt of interest....this looks like being a record turnout! Unless the weather is truly bad, walk is "go"...but bring a waterproof!

We fly out tomorrow, so won't be able to offer more updates, but phone numbers noted.

Anyone else?

Hi all
Well, we missed Michael & Simon on the walk, but had Alison, Jim, Diane & Dave.....plus a couple of dogs picked up on the way. The weather was generally good, though we had a couple of showers. Lovely views from the windmill......including 3 pylons blown down in earlier storms.
Will post a picture once back in UK
Look out for next walk....and note 1000 start please Simon!!
