Taste Restaurant

Post by sallykins »

Hi,

Can anyone help?! I recently visited the Taste restaurant in Carvoeiro and everything on the menu was amazing especially the 4 little dips that came with the bread. They were on the Menu and I know that one of them was 'Alioli' but I don't know what the other 3 are!!!! Can anyone remember or if you are due to visit there can you make a note of the names and let me know. I'm desperate to find recipes for them but without knowing what they're called I'm at a loss!

Thank you

Yes they were very nice. As well as the alioli, think 1 was a normal basil pesto, another was an olive pesto, and the other was some sort of mustard/mild curry mayonaise but sure there is an official name!

We went to Taste.
The first thing we noticed was the difference to Medina....it was buzzing!!
I guess the best way to describe it was an upmarket, northern European take on tapas.
Everything about Taste is good and shows its' Ele&Ella pedigree.
A mild criticism.....all the dishes are excellent....as you would expect, but we felt it needed some sort of bridging element with the various dishes, such as a centre dish of rice and salad, just to "cut" the richness of the dishes.

A slight warning. It is very easy to get carried away by the choice available. Eat sensibly and Taste is not expensive. Go mad and order 3 or 4 dishes each....and it is tempting to do so.....and it will cost you!!

Is it worth the extra walk from the usual bevy of restaurants???

Definately!!

'Taste' is on the left hand side of the out road when leaving village. It has a white wall along the front.

Curry Mayo recipied, I've usesd this one:

cup bottled mayonnaise
2 teaspoons curry powder
squeeze the uice of 1 fresh lime
good ppinch of cayenne

Mix all ingred. together season with a little salt and pepper if you wish, but I don't. paprika for garnish and chill in the firdge a good hour before serving. It's one you need to try and you will more or less add your own seasoning depeding on taset. Use as a dip with slices of cold chicken or turkey and also cold sausages for picnics, even giant cooked prawns on the BBQ.
