Just checked my credit card statement
and the COOP bank has started to charge an overseas transaction fee. I'm sure this was mentioned in one of the T&C updates. Luckily, we used our PT account to pay for the mattress.

Re: Just checked my credit card statement
I have been paying a non-sterling transaction fee on my Smile (co-op) Visa card for some time now.
Re: Just checked my credit card statement
MBNA also charge a non-sterling fee for items bought in euros. Last lot was £1.16 for 45 euros worth of goods. Personally I think it is a rip off, another example of Rip Off Britain even though MBNA is actually an American organistation!

Re: Just checked my credit card statement
Post Office and SAGA have cards with no transaction fee. Looks like I'll be getting one.

Nationwide credit card also have no fees ......so far.
Re: Just checked my credit card statement
Halifax have a credit card with no fees - I got one a couple of months back and used it in Norway a fortnight ago. No transaction fees and excellent exchange rates (which due to the cost of things in Norway was a bonus).

ACtually I bought saga car insurance. I don't really mind. It was the cheapest.

Re: Just checked my credit card statement
Just got my first SAGA statement. Along with no oversees transaction charge the exchange rate is less than 1% below the bank rate.
Re: Just checked my credit card statement
We use a Saga card when we are in Portugal and always get a very good rate and no other charges, excellent
