Anyone know of any further developments with the renting legislation fiasco? Heard the authorities were 're-looking' at it but have heard nothing for months.
The authorities have sprung unannounced visits on a couple of management companies in the the village in the last few weeks, and are going through books.
Those who are not trading legally may be in for fines....with a possible knock on for their clients......
One development that struck me as funny in a "ha-ha-serves-you-right" sort of way, is that the portuguese who want to come to the Algarve are finding it extremely difficult to get a private villa rented, because most poeple won't even answer their enquiries for fear that they could be ASAE.
my lawyer applied for a tourist licence for me 18 months ago. In October she told me that she was going to pick up the licence from the Camera at the end of November 08. Latest e-mail from her, says that the rules have changed yet again, and nobody can get a licence. It doesn't bother me currently as I am not renting out but may want to do in the future.
