Seems that the BLIP show last week didnt go all to plan, after a fire in the newly opened building the portuguese health and safety folk (there the ones who check on all the broken pavements ..the manhole covers left off ...the huge pot holes ...they do a great job as we all know!!) anyway they descended and determined that the show had to be replanned to allow for better fire safety.
As a result a lot of stand holders were moved to their annoyance to the tent outside which was very hot and humid and uncomfortable. This perhaps explains which I didnt understand at the time as to why several stand holders failed to man their booths.
Also there was not enough catering facilities on hand and a large area for new cars went unnoticed by many including me. Further the numbers were down as apart from the two local english papers very little alternative advetising was done.eg no banners etc
so all in all thru circumstance this years show didnt go as well as expected
so wonder what will happen in 2007???

I cannot agree more. The parking situation was awful, we had to drive around for over 20 minutes to find a 'Pavement' to park on and goodness knows what happened to the catering situation....last year we had the 'Cornish Pie' people and additional catering facilities whilst this year it seems we had little choice but to stand in a long line with only one outlet ( OK.. I reaqlly missed the hot Cornish Pasties of 2005) I also did not see the New Car outlet ( Where was it ? )
To be fair I think the BLIP organisers did their very best and I thought the exhibition content to be better than last year and much more enjoyable than Faticil but Faticil is aimed mainly at the local population and they invest heavily into pre show promotion..yes Banners and the like. ( 45 hours of Aerial Banners & static) and are sponsered partially by the local Camara....I don't know if blip get Camara help financially. I also think that a one or two Euro entry fee would not be a negative and would pay for the required promotion bringing in more local Portuguese. But please ...try and sort out the Parking and food / Drink Issues.

We went on the Saturday morning & it wasn't very busy, parked very easily just by the new motors. Would have liked to have seen more in the way of home interiors & garden stalls but still enjoyed it. Catering facilities were dismal though, had to que for 15 mins for a coffee & not enough tables, shame missed opportunity for some extra revenue. But I'm sure next year will be even better.
