My Algarve car rental

Post by LICY »

My hubby was looking for car rental albeit we have booked all our trips this year and the past 8 years through travel rent and found them the cheapest. Have any of you used MYALGARVE? Their price for Yaris or similar is €230 2 weeks in September and a smaller car about €213. TR is €300 for equivalent to Yaris. No idea where you pick up a car for MyAlgarve. Appreciate forum users knowledge/views on this firm.

Get the best price you can find and email it to Steen. I'm sure he will relish the opportunity to match. :)

Really. OK will try.
Zitautos are usually more expensive, although my cousin has used them in the past. Quite strangely I understand the owner of travel rent is the brother of the owner at zitautos. Not sure they could get on together.

I prefer price bettering to price matching. If they are only going to match the price then stick with what you have already been offered, is my opinion!

I have used my algarve cars twice, (also known as local cars) you sign up in the airport near the cafe. To be honest I found them very competitive and not over fussy when leaving the car back ie didn't take out a magnifying glass to go over the car (and to be fair neither do best deal or travel rent ). Two years ago however during peak period (august) my daughter and BF arrived at Faro , car prebooked with my algarve cars but .......no car..... no apologies and then said that if they paid around €125 more they could hire a ' large A' car. ( A being the smallest class) I rang them from Ireland but far from apologising they said that the booking had been cancelled and an email to that effect sent to my daughter. At this stage I explained that I was a regular visitor to Portugal and that they were going to lose my business - including October, December, February and April bookings and they said I was 'threatening' them
my daughter is positive that they did not email her as she says she would have taken some action if they did.

I have never used them since and don't intend to use them again. Probably should use Steen but have already prebooked Feby, Apr, June and Aug/Sept - latter shared with another couple ie booked for 3 weeks and only the middle week common to us both but it worked fine last year.

We used Algarve Driver twice last year. First car was in April brand new with delivery mileage, very impressed. The second car in July had tyres which in UK would have been considered illegal (not in Portugal). So I requested either the tyres were changed or we were given another car, which we got. However whilst driving to Carvoeiro we found the Air-Con was not working, so we continued onto the villa with windows open. Phoned Algarvedriver and returned to Faro Airport the next day for another car, which was not far from where we were going to. Got another car no problems all at a very reasonable price. We will use them again no problem. However next time we would check the Air-Con is working before leaving the car park Macherts

pretty sure we will book through Steen, just need to get hubby to OK and book then cancel TR, although will not cAncel the March trip. to be fair to TR their car is the next size up, nut the smallest car is good for us as we are 2 only, with 3 in October, but no real luggage. :)

Through Steen is the best option. IF you get a taxi down to CVO and hire the car in town ,it will save all that damn inconvenient dropping off at the airport on the return jourmey as that is stressful as it is, time wise etc.

taxi each way 100 euros or there abouts, I can put up with a lot of hassle for that price.
