Building guarantees
We had a bespoke kitchen company, who were advertising that they also did roofing, replace our roof last year ( Sept 2007 ) in Sept this year we noticed that there was a 2 / 3 meter crack that apeared within their work. We reported it to them and so far all attempts to talk to them has been ignored. The crack is now 10/12 mtrs long and follows the lines of the eaves completely within part of the wall they had replaced.
The only communication we have had from this company is an estimate for us to pay 1400€ to replace all the rendering on the wall in question, which is ridiculous. The problem is only in the rendering/ wall they built.
We have been to AFPOP today and they say that we don't have a leg to stand on as we didn't get a written guarantee prior to the work being done. Surely there must be some law to protect us from shoddy workmanship?
We are so annoyed, we paid 2000€ extra for this company to look after the work as being English and Afpop members we felt they could be more trusted to do an honest job.
