A pointless post I know, but just been here 2 days out of 3 weeks and its just as great as ever. 8th visit and I'll keep coming. Very busy as expected at moment, but doesn't spoil it. Morning mist, then clears mid morning.

Morning mist we were there this time last year and didn't get any at all, previously we have had the morning mist early September, wish we were there now, sadly have to wait until next May !!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone who's been at peak season know of a quietish beach localish to Carvoeiro, but got a car if needed ?

Not long until we fly out on 27th August for at least my 13th visit. We were there at the end of August last year and cannot recall seeing any early morning mist! I cannot remember any mists in all the times i have visited- well not ones caused by the weather anyway!
It was extremely hot there last year - what are the temperatures like at the moment? as the web cam temperature gauge is not working i can only go off weather.co.uk.

Thats the day we come back (27th). I work in old school money, so the temperature over the last 2 days has been between 86F and 91F at mid afternoon in the shade with a nice cool sea breeze. The morning mist has been over the coastal areas covering inland only by a short distance, it lasted today until lunchtime, but usually clears by mid morning. The evening music is on in the square from 10pm until midnight which is really good. Anyone recommend their favorite bar and beach ?

All the local beaches are very crowded in August.

Two hints : wait until after 6 p.m. to go (sea warm and people leaving) or go to one of the larger beaches - Meia Praia from Alvor or Lagos or Armacao de Pera beach.

Great, we will pay a visit to Armacao de Pera today.
Sea mist no longer lingering around Carvoeiro/coast any more.

Just in case anyone was wondering, the Algar Seco resort pool is not open to non-residents throughout July/August/September, due to near full occupancy of the residents. The Tivoli Almansor pool is also closed to non-residents now, as we've just been and checked.

I just saw on the monarch web page that flights have been diverted from Faro to Lisbon due to fog!!

There was a bit of mist again this morning - looking at the Faro arrivals website it looks as though the flights were re-routed to Lisbon and Seville, but were then able to take off again and land at Faro a bit later than scheduled.

It's nice and sunny again now, so there shouldn't be any further problems with afternoon flights.

There is a beach that is never crowded - we call it the 'ladder' beach 'cos you have to climb down a pretty hairy ladder to get to it - no cafe, loos etc but also no people - great for snorkelling and has a hole (two actually) through the left side rocks that you can walk through and swim round the headland back into the bay if you are brave enough, some would say foolhardy I'm sure, to do it. It is in the CC area on the west side of town - don't quite know how to describe how to get to it - there is a small cul-de-sac car park at the top of CC cliff near it - or, walking west from O Boteca restaurant along the cliff, down then up through the first gorge and along the clifftop for about 15 mins to just before the 'khaki' coloured villa, the path goes round a partially sunken gorge with various tracks leading to a ladder (which you can't see until you go past the khaki villa) and via this to the beach below.

Depends on how adventurous you are feeling or how badly you want a beach to yourself - there are occasionally one or two people there !

Wow, its raining and overcast, a nice relief from hot hot sun, forecast Thursday/Friday too, we'll see, time for site seeing.

Last day today, what a great place, no wonder most people return for further visits year after year, certainly the jewel of the Algarve.
