I know its quite rare for a boy to ask a shopping question!!! but I was wondering if you could give me some advice to help my September holiday.
I have collected a little bit of sporting memorabilia from all the countries of the world I have visited and want Portugal to be no different.
It is mainly cycling and football that I am interested in and I wondered where the best places around Carvoeiro to find sports shops would be.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In algarve shopping at GUIA and in the Modelo complex in Albufeira.
there are sports shops
Also ask the waiters Luiz and Alex at Cais Velho restaurant on the seafront at Albufeira they are fanatic footbal fans ( as are most portuguese ).

Thanks for the speedy response!!!
can't wait for my holidays now!
One more question if I may...
are Portimonese or Olhanese the local team for Carvoiero?

portimonense is Portimão's team, and olhanense is Olhão. Lagoense is Lagoa's own footie team, which covers Carvoeiro and such areas.

Are they any good? I had read about the problems with Portimonese and if this website is being translated correctly some of their players are heading to Lagonese.

I think I have found their website??
I caught a match whilst in Cyprus last year so hope to do the same in Portugal.

If you are looking for football jerseys and scarves, try the gypsy markets especially the one at Quarteira. I have seen booths there just loaded with these items for sale.

Portimonense was a great team years ago, which sadly is no longer the case. I know a couple of players who moved to lagoense, not quite sure why..
Tricky, yes i think they play behind the fatacil, but i don't know of any match dates!
Algarve United started a couple of summers ago, with players of all nationalities. Haven't heard much about them recently, although they're trying to get up there with Sporting and Benfica

regarding sports shops, especially soccer, we found the sports shop near the post office to be good for soccer gear. The only problem is that it is the official jerseys they sell, and your talking €70 and up. The guy behind the counter actually plays for one of the local teams.

Is this sports shop in Carvoeiro itself?

by bifas 1st darling!
They only start training in Lagoa at the begining of Setember, and I don't think they actually start playing until November (I may be wrong, but I don't want to wake any of my team members!). You may be able to catch a friendly match or one between the Lagoa teams, I'll have to ask later!

Well I only managed to find one of the sport shops in Carvoeiro and zero in Lagoa!
I must have no scent for sniffing shops out.
