It could be beaches, shops, restaurants, bars with easy access and facilities etc.

Hi Steen. Friends of mine have set up a company specifically to provide for disabled people either living or holidaying on the Algarve. They are called Algarve Mobility and they are based in Lagos. We have had the driveway of our house/practice redesigned so that patients can be driven right up to the front door.
The consulting room is on the ground floor with no steps and doorways are wide enough for standard wheelchairs.
At the risk of being culled by the moderators, I would add that I can carry out all ocular health and diagnostic tests on the premises and sight-testing as well as my speciality of contact lenses specially designed to cater for the Algarvean hot (normally anyway ), dry, dusty climatic conditions. In the summer there is an accessible beach at Portimao Marina with good facilities and staff for getting disabled people in and out of the water - as far as I can remember it includes ramps, special chairs and so on. As it is inside of the breakwater it gives safe swimming.

There's a disabled parking bay halfway up Restaurant Hill. Trouble is, the shopkeeper leaves his van in it all day.

THere are also bays at the end of the in road " very " convenient for some locals and holiday makers with no obvious lack of mobility.

My only experience of disability facilities was when my late wife broke her toe in the Casa, I hired a wheelchair and took her to Lagos, what a nightmare, apart that is from walking up and down the Promenade all day. That caldaz or whatever it's called is so anti-wheelchair it's not true, but there again, I suppose Portuguese pavements in general were never designed with wheelchair users in mind.
As for Cvo I feel a installing a narrow strip down the beach to the water would be a nice little touch.

Oh how true, that get's my blood boiling, I usually have to use the disabled parking on the out road, which is a long walk when you have difficulty walking long distances. Especially as I am a registered disabled.

We just give the town a miss and go to Alvor. How can they manage that great long promenade along the river, which is easy walking for the infirmed and cvo can't lay two adjacent paving blocks that are level!
