Have just come back from a few days at Rocha Brava.
When to Praia do Marinha on Sunday afternoon (30th April). Sea was cold but the sun was very strong so we just had to brave it. No regrets, the water was very calm and super clear ...... it just HAS TO BE DONE !!
I'm usually a real wimp but my friend and I just went straight in!
Beautiful !

Caneiros beach on Monday - official water temperature a staggering 23 c - I didn't believe Bruno (the lifeguard) but it was indeed very pleasant.
Normal temperature for May is 17 - 18 c, but can vary by as much as 5 c from day to day depending on the winds and currents.
The moral is to bring both your cossie and your wet suit or send someone else in first
