Our vegetarian daughter came out to Cvo recently for her birthday and this raised the question, "Where do we take her for dinner?" :?
We took her to 'Via Italia' on Rua Povo do Burro. It was good and she enjoyed the meal. OK. :)
Next night we took her to 'Casa Velha do Pescador' out in Benigil. She had 'Vegetarian Risotto with Mushrooms in a Cream Sauce'.
Well, she hasn't stopped talking about it yet. On a scale of 100, she gave it 150!
The best vegetarian meal she ever had. :D
Anyone looking for a veggie restaurant, this is the place to go. The only drawback is that you need a car! (or take a taxi, it's worth it) It's out at the end of Estrada do Farol. See free map. :P

Thanks for the update Dalcassian. We first went to the Casa Velha in Benagil around Feb of 2000, when vegetarian was a very strange concept in Portuguese restaurants. My wife is a strict vegetarioan, and so after a little chat with mine host, he went back to the kitchen and discussed with his chef what to do, and out came a creamy mushroom risotto. She loved it, and we went back frequently for a few years until one summer, we had a couple of bad experiences with both service and poor wine.

Based purely on your rave recommendation above, I guess we'll have to go back and try again 8) !

p.s. MC or other Mods, suggest that you add a bold V to the entry for this restaurant in the FAQ
