I am visiting Carvoeiro for the first time in mid June. My wife attracts mozzies like the proverbial ....

Are we likely to encounter a problem

Yes - particularly as this has been quite a wet winter/spring. Make sure to use repellant from just before dusk onwards - we find that those with a high DEET content work best. From previous postings on here apparently daily intake of Marmite from a week or two before you go on holiday and whilst you are there seems to work. Have never tried it myself but if you like Marmite then why not?

Yes, unfortunately Mozzies are already about, so if your wife is badly affected, bring repellent, burn citronella candles and use the plug-ins and/or nets at night.

Thanks Sandy and Bruxhinia. Not the answer I was wanting but it was what I was expecting. We're already dusting down the mozzie machines etc. and stocking up on Marmite
