There is a lot of development going on in the centre, new villa development
( 30 plus villas ) ther is also a commercial development but it looked more like small units rather than retail.

tbbr,
Do you mean at the Splash & Slide roundabout, past the marble place and then on the right hand side there is a fairly new Industrail Estate or do you mean further down near the Alcantarilha traffic lights, which you cross to go towards A.D.Pera or straight on to Algarve Shopping C?

We purchase our Swimming Pool Chemicals and cleaning equipment from the shop on the I.Estate facing the EN125 (next to the bathroom showroom) as we have found it the best prices to date.

Somewhere, even maybe on this forum, someone has mentioned a Shopping Centre in Alcantarilha on the lines of the Algarve Shopping Centre and that planning applications are already being submitted...and this would be in the caption of Silves Camara......I have a local Cllr near me as a neighbour...and I am always picking her brains......but she is a good sort and anything she can tell me she does...bless her.

 Just to mention that the traffic lights at the intersection in Alcantarilha is now a roundabout! they seem to be popping up everywhere along the N125 at the moment.

Thanks Lesley,
I had actually forgotten about the roundabout off to A.D.Pera..i.e. I do not believe that it is actually fully operational yet....i.e. a friend of Bruxy's is here at the moment and I asked him...N.R.

I thought that Ikea was going to be along that way. Can anyone confirm?

Contrary to speculation there are no plans for an Ikea in the Algarve. The second store for Portugal is due to open in Oporto in 2007.

The only one I know of, is just being built right next to Makro, it´s called AKI/ Bricolage, nothing exciting.
