Can anyone tell me what Carvoeiro is like in early February. Are there plenty of Bars & Restaurants open. What is the weather usually like.

Kathy, it all depends on which February you are talking about...

In February 2002 we were in the Monchique mountains sitting outside in short sleeve shirts eating lunch at a wonderful restaurant.

In February 2003 we were huddled in front of an open fire watching the football on TV cos it was pouring with rain.

I guess I still have very fond memories of Feb 2002, although many restaurants were closed, we went out every evening to a different restaurant and found some very friendly staff welcoming us - you see, none of the restaurants that were open were full, so we were treated like VIPs.

We know we could be gambling re the weather.I take it if we were wanting to rent somewhere we would need some sort of heating just in case.

Most places have open fires and electric heaters too - check with the owner when you enquire.

We came to Carvoerio this year Jan 31st - Feb 3rd for my husbands' birthday. We had beautiful sunshine all 4 days we were there. Temperature reached around 23-24 degrees and I even sat on Carvahlo beach in my knickers as we had been out walking and I forgot to put my bikini in my bag. We ate in all our favourite restaurants but there were very few people about. As soon as we left on our £10.00 flight home I understand the weather changed dramatically.
Therefore be prepared for any weather.

always carry a spare pair in your bag......

I would advise NOT TO put a spare pair of knickers or g string in your bag. I have been sat at a bar in Carvoeiro and thought I was pulling out a tissue - not!!!! Fortunately I noticed before using and my kids noticing otherwise the whole bar would have known then!

Please note g-string not equivalent to mansize tissues in case anyones got a cold. Have now discovered M&S low-rise shorts (have you tried them yet Mads, Susie - they're gr8, no VPL, and no dental floss feeling either Have you tried them, Cowboy?

I understand why you have immediately jumped to the image of myself having a hubby called Wayne( actually called Eamonn). The stereotypical SHARON and white stilettos, dancing around the handbag and generally sitting around in her knickers on the beach isn't really me. I can assure you that although I am Sharon, I enjoy a good glass or five of the finest wines, can have the most brilliant time with my girlfriends without male company, enjoy motorsport and am not a bird brain (as I am a director of a small company) My knickers were clean and actually did match my bra and I wasn't the only person on the beach in my undies!!!
PS I may have given the impression I am sensitive about my name.

This seems a " Much ado about next to nothing"----and with this one --- and in CVOs wonderfully warm environment "nothing " is the better option---sit elegantly -- legs together to one side and ankles neatly crossed , no one would know except you of course!
Alternatively,wear "Slip Francaise"--the French led the way to more natural lingerie--but personally I prefer the first option--each to her/ his own,
