how to tell a tourist

yes not too hard as in February when most residents are in winter coats and scarves, it is possible to see tourists - as I did today in intermarche dressed in shorts and t shirts.
Also all tourists seems to wear the waist band wallets..which says to anyone who should be so inclined to steal "hello Ive got all my money and documents in my little pouch here."

another tell tale sign is that most hire cars have their hub caps taken off by hire firm

I wouldn't been seen dead wearing a bum-back. I am far too cool for that

yes very true..or men and women walking up & down in supermarkets in swim wear .

I do admit to wearing tee-shirt and shorts; but so do a lot of locals/ex-pats when the weather is warmer.
But, I object to swim-wear anywhere but on the beach where it belongs. And I am totally against bare-chested men parading their often corpulent stomachs around town as if they had something to be proud of.
Sad to say they are invariably from the UK

I am a tourist.
Some members live here, some own property here, but a lot of us simply holiday here.
..... and some have never even been here!
