Interesting article in the Sunday Times about the " perils " of buying property in Turkey.

If you are looking for somewhere to hide your ill gained cash in a totally unregulated market this looks like the place for you.

MMm! hadn,t thought of that .

Just trying to draw a few comparisons between what in the Algarve is a mature ( and safer ) place to invest in property and these " cheap " hotspots that are so widely advertised and even lauded by some on this forum in the past.

If a deal sounds too good to be true is usually is.

Understnd what you are saying but if you can get hold of a copy you will see what I mean.
Incidentally had a meeting last week with " a bank in lagoa " who know our lawyer well and are more than happy with progress to date.
( little as it is !! ).

On the surface it would appear that you do not understand what you are being advised. It is also noted that you have not replied to my pm.With regard the bank at Lagoa, if you mean Barclays (Portugal) a friend of mine from there is presently setting up the new Lagos branch and is also fully aware of your lawyer.

I can only repeat my above posting and look forward to receiving a reply to my pm to you.

Well, just seems like a usual week in the Algarve to me.

The things that regularly come passed my eyes sure don't suggest to me that Portugal is any better than Turkey, Bulgaria, Spain or any "Banana Republic". I am not shocked by any of it any more but saddened and disappointed at the greed of people. People are often very short-sighted and very stupid too.
