Can anyone please advise me if the Setanta Sport channel can be picked up in portugal. In particular i wanted to find out if any pub was showing the Mayo v Galway football on the 6th July as my brother-in-law said the holidays cancelled if he cant watch it while we are there :!:  I was hoping it might be showing in Smilers

Dear 'Guest'
Its not that important i was joking but maybe youve never heard of a sense of humour over there either.
I must say you are very brave making idiotic comments under the guise of guest maybe you would be brave enough to put your name to your next post or are we expecting to much from you.
On a serious note Steen all i was asking for was for was a reasonable request on the facilities in carvoeiro and i get a smart arse comment like that, maybe its about time that comments can only be posted from those people who have joined the memberlist as i have noticed that we are getting more and more guests writing rude comments to people who are using the forum, after all i thought the forum was for people to share thier knowledge of the area and maybe help other people out if they have any inquiries. Im sure that the decent people that use this forum to express thier opinions wouldnt mind having to log on first. What do the rest of you think :?: And finally guest maybe you should take some advise 'if you havnt got anything nice to say dont say nothing'
Getting back to my original question regarding the irish football if anyone would be able to advise me i would be grateful.

I have absoultely no touble being a smart-arse, wise-cracker or complete plum and putting my name to it - I do it on a daily basis :). I can also do helpful and obliging sometimes too :).

If you use a name you own your comments. I think the thing is we don't know if there are 101 ignorant/rude guests out there or a couple who are responsible for all the iffy posts.

We all make poor judgements on occasion and make a post we probably wish we hadn't, but at least the backlash/criticism is then appropriately targetted.

by Ed, a polite guest.
It's possible that Dirty Nellie's (Irish Bar  ) may be showing it. Situated on the right hand side of the in-road, more or less opposite Mitz's restaurant.

Used to be O Bau restaurant, I think.

Dear Ed
Thankyou very much for the information, i will pass it on to my brother-in-law. He might think about coming out there now  ( just to let the guest without a sense of humour know that was a joke).

   that was so funny Loretta!!

As for making us log on - it has taken me 6 months to use this forum - not all of us are p.c. literate and if logging on means remembering a password etc. then I will be truly scuppered. Its bad enough now trying to remember passwords for bank, etc.!!! Dont ask me how many times I've had to renew those

Hi Loretta,

I was browsing through the Carvoeiro 'freemap' that I picked up on my recent visit (daydreaming about coming back!) and there is an entry there that mentions the Setanta sports channel. Its the Tropical Coffee Shop (number 24 on the map) and is next to Rocha Brava. According to their entry they have TV's all round the bar and a large selection of beers including Guinness. Should keep the man happy!! They have a website (the map people, not the coffee shop!) at www.freemaps.net

Never been there myself but maybe someone else has and can tell you more.

Cheers,

Helen

Dear Non PC Literate Guest

Logging on doesn't require you to remember a password, in fact you can set it up so it logs you in automatically everytime you go to Carvoeiro.Com, which is what I do.

It is in "my fouvourites", a click and I am in and logged on - as easy as that - Loretta you might want to try that too

I agree with a previous respondent that Dirty Nellie's (Irish Bar) is very likely to show it. It is very close to the Post Office. So if downtown Carvoeiro (beach end) then this bar would be more convenient. I saw the Armagh v Kerry final there last September. Also, Alvor has at least 3 Irish bars, so if in this region try there. Best regards Paul J
