We are going to Carvoeiro again 16th Dec, can anyone tell me what it is like at christmas - is it busy and is everything open? Or are we in for a v.quiet time?

Welcome to the forum, hopefully you will get some helpful responses and of course the FAQ can provide you with practical information but if you want to know about the 'feel' of the place at that time of year then the regulars are bound to help you out and FAQ may not have been the obvious first stop.

It depends what you want out of it really dippydi. I like the fact that it is somewhat quieter than home, but the weather is nice enough to sit out in!

There are a few shops and restaurants that are closed over the Christmas period, but it doesn't detract from all else CVO has to offer.

I am sure you will love it and as Michael said if you would like a drink or whatever, we are around from 23rd December to 2nd January

were do you hang out mainly for a drink? can you recommend a nice restaurant for xmas day. Is it better to book now?

We dine at 'home' - the villa we rent for the holiday.

We ate at Casa do Bifa last New Year and it was fabulous. We didn't book, but we will be doing this year as they were packed. Christmas Day I like to cook so we tend to have a walk to the beach, stop for hot chocolate and then walk back for lunch.

New Year to me is always more lively than Christmas, everywhere seems much busier. Sully's is great but a lot will tell you Jailhouse is good too. Unfortunately on past experience I personally wouldn't recommend Jailhouse, but give it a go you may like it

We will be trying out Algar Seco this year when we go along for the meet up...if there is one

Thanks to all, really looking forward to it. Had a great time there in Sept and will hope for much of the same this time. We really enjoyed Sullys and will no doubt spend most evenings after the evening meal in there. We are only there for 4 days - that's all the kids would allow us to go for!!

I think they'll move it again. They moved it from Anteak and didn't tell us - perhaps they'll do it again

does anyone know which restaurants, bars, jazz clubs etc are putting anything special on for xmas. Coming between 22nd and 27th and staying at rocha brava?
