Once you've been to a forum meeting, and seen "members"in the flesh,so to speak.Does it not reduce the mystic of posting and getting a reply!!??

Homme, I've been asked this question a few times privately and all I can say is that it hasn't made any difference for me.
Think Tricky was first person/member I met but we had got to know each other quite well on here and on chatroom, also over the phone,so I felt I knew her and that we would get on well
Ive been to quite a lot of forum 'meet ups' since last year and Ive enjoyed meeting the folk here 'in the flesh'..but I was quite 'nervous' at the beginning,as you do (well I did) think of some of the things I'd written here and maybe annoyed folk,so I was very apprehensive to say the least!
The first time I met Heini..I crashed into the telephone box outside Smilers, nearly went flying..but I think she believed me when I said Ihadn't touched a drop!!
Can I ask you,do you think it would alter your impressions if you met members? Would you rather it stayed a bit 'mystic'?
I enjoy meeting & talking to folk,so it hasn't changed anything for me

Well, Ellie, it was actually the phone booth that was in your way and Smiler's tables being put so close to it. But I must admit it was kinda funny. Since I don't usually join into the banter and chit-chat I must say I was happy to meet the forum members and they seemed to be just the same as my mental picture of them. Looking forward to seeing some of you again starting in January.

I think the first time I venture down to the Thursday meeting I shall remain incognito

then I can observe you all from a distance.
So if you notice a tall female huddled in a corner in a mac, trilby & sunglasses trying to look inconspicuous it won't be me

Last night I met Steen, our beloved webmaster, for the first time. A real pleasure.
Thunderbolt and I joked that he was a bit like "Charlie" from "Charlie's Angels". We knew he was out there but none of us had met him. So that mystery was solved for us.
It is fun to meet up and get to see if our mental image is the reality or not. Maybe we should describe ourselves in our profile, but then it might end up like a dating agency.

Michael has met some of the members, but I have not. I was ill at the time! However I shall be looking forward to Christmas when I hope to finally put faces to names!
