Please could someone let me know if there is a sports bar in Carvoeiro. We are arriving on Saturday 15/10/05 and there is a rugby league match on sky that my husband wants to watch. Thanks

:D Bar Tropical and Algarve 2000 near Rocha Brava complex have sky sports. They usually have all football/rugby on so i cannot see a problem. Nice atmosphere and good snack menu in Bar Tropical.
Enjoy your holiday.

Only problem on Saturday is that there are loads of world cup qualifiers on and rugby may come at the back of the queue. Mike, Chislehurst.

The World Cup qualifiers are this Saturday (8th) and Weds 12th, so by then, apart from those teams participating in the play-offs (mid-November) all the nations should know whether they are through or not.

Also why dont you try the Clubhouse at Val de Milho Golf Club or the Fanatic Joker Bar at the back of Rocha Brava.

I would recommend the Joker Bar – Was out they’re during the Euro 2004 tournament and this was a very good place to watch the games, which were not being played on the beach. They also serve good food there.

This is situated on the left hand side on the main high street,

Are you sure about the Fanatic Joker?
Last time we were at RB (in September) all the football seemed to be shown at the other places mentioned above in the small row of shops.
The F J was empty and looking very sad, with no football being shown.
Any knowledge of what's going on there please? The usual staff were nowhere to be seen and it was looking a bit tatty.

As Freddie asked, does anybody know who runs the place now? Whoever it is, needs to get their act together. There certainly wasn't any football being shown there on my last visit.

There is a sports bar, i was out there a couple of months ago the bar is called the JOKER BAR is approx half way down the main high st on the left as you walk down the hill towards the square. There are 6 televisions showing all broadcast sport, different sports on different tvs and the freindly staff are always pleased to let you watch you required sport.

We have always used the FJ as our local which is in walking distance from Rocha Brava. It is run by Miguel and Anna. Up until this year we have always watched sport on the big screen. I dont know what happened but I dont think they have sky any more. Miguel seems to spend most of his time on the computer on the side room while you wait to be served. He then ignores any conversation and goes back to the computer. We went in several times in August and September and a lot of the times we were the only ones there. Its not the friendly place it used to be. We will give this place a miss in the future. :(
