Best place on the Algarve is the Ria Formosa National Park. Tidal area, migratory birds, some hides. Nearest access to CVO:- drive all the way through Quinta do Lago down to the estuary, also boat trips from Faro + Olhao. The Ria Formosa extends most of the way to Tavira but is less accessible in parts

You will see many birds that you don't see in the UK. Many of the smaller ones will come into your garden and will feed from what you put out.

Make sure you have a european species bird book rather than british birds.

If you head into the hills or towards the west coast you will also see kites (the feathered type!) and buzzards.

Theres the bird sanctuary at the Alvor estuary tbbr..
run by 'A Rocha' organisation. Not sure if they still do them but couple of years back..when I was a member you could actually have 'holidays' there to birdwatch and participate in activities there?
You can get info online for A Rocha :)

There are loads of birds in carvoeiro.
There normaly seen in the local bars, late at night.
I understand the more common ones are seen in the Angel Bar, Joker Bar, and Rascals .where they attempt to find a mate.

Oh dear I nearly split my sides laughing
I suppose the *mates* are predatory old male birds? :x
