No Car Day?

Some guests of mine arriving tomorrow, tell me that friends of their's from Lagos have told them that it is No Car Day on Thursday!
Apparently for the day, nobody can drive cars into the towns and most people will be using bikes!, does this cover Carvoeiro as well?
Great Idea incidentally
So you think this could be adopted over here in the UK,
I love riding my bike, although my daughter is mortified now I've bought a basket for the front!!

Its National leave your car at home day in the UK also on Thursday so as you think its a great idea what will you be doing tommorrow

Unfortunately I live deep in the country and 12 miles from my office,
so I will have to drive. But I will make an effort when I get home and go and do all my shopping on my bike (with its basket), Rucksack and box on my head!

Perhaps an exageration me thinks plus an easy cop out. Are there no trains or buses deep in the country.

I think I heard something about Vila Real S Antonio, that town right up the other end of Algarve, banning cars on No Car Day. But apart from that there seems to be zero awareness.

Yeah! .... nobody told me.
Last time they tried that it was a complete stambles. They blocked off the main avenue (Liberdade) halfway down !!! without warning!!! they havent got a clue.

Does that mean I have to walk from Silves to Algar Seco tomorrow though for a drink...yikes? I am fit but that is a bit of a walk
I could have easily run it in my athlete days but after a few beers I think I might just be sick on the way back

Friends of ours were here yesterday, and decided to head back to Cascais today instead of tomorrow, to avoid any problems en route.

Only problem is I haven't got a bike and I would have to drive down from the outback to Silves now to buy one , so defeats the object. Maybe I could borrow my neighbour's pop pop. I assume motorbikes are allowed
Beware this evening Carvoeiro...you could see me hurtling down the hill out of control
