Waffle about Crepes!

I've never eaten a decent crepe/pancake in CVO or thereabouts....is there a creperie I wonder?.....or a restaurant that provides these perhaps as a starter (as in France)...or for pudding?
I don't mean those large flat things served up with bits of fruit stuck in them.....but real crepes?
While I'm at it...though I like Portuguese cuisine its also nice to try others for a change..as we do with Italian for instance....are there any French restaurants in the vicinity?....
I've got onto this subject cos I've been cleaning out kitchen cupboards(too wet to work outside..)..
and at the back of one I found my old waffle iron.......so being a miserable wet day....I made a hot lunch of Welsh rarebit(with Worcestershire sauce :P ).....and cooked up Hub and I a waffle each(with maple syrup)...
but I've lost me recipe for waffles....they were ok but not quite right...
recipe anyone por favor? :)

Hi Ellie, there was a restaurant in Guia called Le Mangerie. I don't know if it is still there. It was situated down passed the post office at the end on the corner of the left hand fork. I think they did international cuisine, as opposed to just French and I seem to recall that one of the owners/chefs was Icelandic :?

I met a couple, who went there and they really enjoyed it, but that was a long while ago. If I am down that way I'll check it out for you. I LOVE French cuisine...hmmmm. Yes, Portuguese food is ok, but after a while you do crave something a bit more exciting. Actually one of the best meals I ever has was Lebanese but not here I'm afraid. We do have a Thai now in Silves at least :)

Le Mangerie in Guia is now a pizza place but Erla and Fernando now have moved to a place just up the road a few yards called BITOQUE ( phone 289561324) which is wonderful.
Yes Erla is Icelandic and Fernando is half French half Portugese.Erla is the chef and she produces IMHO fantastic international cuisine.

May look a little formal but its not , Fernando is lovely and is quite happy for you to have two starters or just a main .......whatever suits you .
Not the cheapest place to eat but certainly worth a visit or two.......or three

French food is lovely.

Last night I was feeling a bit nostalgic so I decided to have a typically Swiss dish. A raclette. Which is basically melted cheese on potatoes but it is sooooooooooooooo lovely.

Ok, I know that normally you would eat that in the dead of the winter but hey, it was a bit cloudy. That will do for me.

Thanks for saving me the leg work Susie :)

Yes, I remember a place called Bitoque, it is just round the corner...might give it a try myself...when I can find someone else to pay :P

The food at the Thai restaurant in Silves was good LJ...you're right. The service was very slow when I went, but they had just started up and so it is good to hear it has improved. The Moldavian waiter (if he is still there) is a nice guy too.

Right...breakfast calling...starving after all this food talk!
