We are coming out this Saturday.Do we need an E111?
I have had conflicting advice.

You dont "Need"an E111 form, but its a good idea to get one, you just get a form from the post office, fill it in and take it back for the postmaster to stamp it. This is valid until December when you will automaticlly be sent a small credit type card, this will be the perminent E111 card. (You will need a form for each person travelling, but dont worry its free)

According to the leaflets given out at Post Offices and the NHS website Forms E111 are not essential to obtain reciprocal medical treatment in Portugal. My advice is to make your own enquiries from the above and be assured that the regs have not changed recently

Get the E111 anyway. It's free and handy to have with you. Just in case. It means that if you need medical assistance you produce the form and it cuts out a lot of paperwork hassle.
