• Bus from Faro to Portimao

Hi, hope somebody can help!

When we come over to our house we normally hire a car for the duration of our stay. Which is a shame as we have a vehicle over there! We have a house in Monchique and for numerous reasons this has always been the most cost effective and / or most practical solution for our needs and circumstances at the time.

However when we come over at the end of April we arrive at 7.30 in the evening with only a small amount of luggage plus we have a lift back to the airport on our return.

So we decided to take the plunge on this visit and get the train to Portimao and then a taxi to the house. Sadly it seems the last train to leave Faro is 7.30pm.
Which leads me to my question.... Is there a bus? Any help with timetables, where to get on etc!

There are a few English guys that do airport pick ups........I think they charge about 80 Eoro Faro to Monchique.......Is it worth the hassle to get trains and then a Taxi from Portimauo.....I know these guys are not 100% legal insured to carry passengers but they are there doing it every day in summer....as long as you know that...I know what I would do....

abou 5 to 6 years ago the last train leaving from faro to portimao used to be at 11.30pm and the bus at 7.30pm, if that changed i don't know, i think your best option is get a taxi to monchique, the train option is the cheapest but is it worth the hassle? you have to get a taxi from the airport to the train station, then the train takes forever to get to portimao, then you need to get a taxi in portimao to monchique, and let me teel you is not easy to get a taxi near portimao train station at night, for the sake of saving a few euros?

Thanks for the responses and as I guessed we will probably do the car hire or taxi (only costs us 70 euros with our friendly Monchique taxi man) again.
Just wanted a bit of adventure really!! But then again my sense of adventure soon disappears after a flight on easyjet.
