Does anyone know of a tyre fitter in the area as we managed to get a puncture yesterday and need a new tyre asap. Preferably one that doesn't charge the earth? (is there such a thing?)

Lagoa has a First Stop Tyre service in the industrial park - turn in at the fatacil and take a left at the roundabout, 100mts on the right hand side.

Cheapest guys are the Quick Stop...always advewrtised in Resident..they are on the way to Lagos........you should call both places and ask for a fitted price......I've never used the lagoa people...they might match the price and of course they are closer...

I had 4 tyres fitted last month and they were about 50% more expensive than the UK even at a good discount.

I am told that tyres are cheaper in Spain. Has anyone any personal experience of this?

Yes Tyres here are much more expensive in the Algarve......The guys on the way to Lagos (Either Quick Fit or Rapid Fit ?)......agreed to match the UK price on certain tyres.......as I have a few cars I will do a little check on local prices and also Spain......and if succesful will report back......not much help for Debs..but for future use it might be useful....

About 30% cheaper in Spain I think. For a full set well worth the drive to Lepe or somewhere.

If you want it repaired, then there is tyre place in Parchal just before the the railway line on the RHS when heading away from Parchal, they are cheap for fixing punctures, but dont know about buying new tyres from them.

Thanks for the advice, but I don't think there's any way this one is getting repaired! Will bear in mind for the future.

I just wanted to post the result! Well, if you can call it that, I am a little early (tyre arrives tomorrow - hopefully).
We took the car to Lagoa - couldn't find any numbers in the phone book. Anyway, had to order the tyre as not a regular stock one. My husband explained that he thought that would be the case etc. etc. as he is a mechanic himself and in view of that, we were actually given a trade discount!
Just thought it was nice to go somewhere and not be ripped off for a change!!

I am going to lock this topic after I reduce it to the informative content (Just in case somebody else needs help with tyres).
