Funny you should say this as I have been invited there tonight for the official launch of the ABN AMRO ocean going yacht that is to sail in the Volvo Ocean Challenge in November.
I'll let you know tomorrow (if I remember!)

Nice place! I believe that this has been made from what were originally intended as apartments but might be wrong.
There is a round central foyer which leads out to colonnades running on either side of a raised salt water pool and sun lounger area. The accomodation is in ground and first floor rooms which include a kitchenette. 138 junior suites, 45 suites and 13 family suites.
At the other end to the reception is a restaurant and bar and this looks out over the water to Ferragudo.
All in all pretty good. I enjoyed myself anyway!

Hotel Almansor in Carvoeiro? Depends on budget really and whether you will hire a car?

Hey Biffa
We are thinking of comming out to CVO in May and saw your post. We were wondering what the local word is on the Almansor Hotel. What do you mean "depends on budget and hire of car"?
Is it expensive? It's only one kilometer from CVO Central.

My In Laws have just stayed at the Almansor and my Mum and Sister are due there next week, so I'll get their views on it too.
The in-laws thought it was very nice, great location etc. but they were put in a room directly above some sort of entertainment that was a little noisy. And that was December.
I don't think they had anything else bad to say about it though. They only ate there once, I believe, but not because the food was in any way bad! You would need a car if you were going to be visiting cvo centre regularly. Although they may have a courtesy bus? I can't remember. But I shall get a very honest opinion from my family and will post back if I remember!
