We have recently purchased a four-bedroom villa in the Praia da Marina area. We have been quoted what we consider to be quite a high charge for the appointment of a maid on an annual basis and would appreciate receiving any advice with regard to current maids rates for larger sized villas. We will require the maid to attend at our villa during the Summer for five days, for a minimum of two hours and during the Winter for three days, for a minimum to clean/aerate the villa. Rates vary depending on location, size and duration/type of work but you can expect to pay € 5-10,-- on an hourly basis. If you hire her with a contract expect to pay and additional 24,75% for social security ontop of whatever monthly salary you agree on.

My maid comes in three times a week (9-11) mainly to iron, but if there isn't much ironing she has a tidy up. I pay her 170 euros a month. The going rate is from 5euros onwards.
