This is one for the financial gurus, amongst us..

Over the last few weeks I have noticed the exchange rate (Pounds to Euros) continue to fall. I thought OK once the US elections are over it will recover...wrong.

Please can any of you guys consult your crystal ball as to why it is continuing to fall, and now the tricky question....when will it rise?

Just need to transfer money out to Portugal and have had analysis paralysis since it was at Stg1.44, Friday it went down to Stg1.42

I have posted in this section as may be useful to many people currently buying in CVOas well.

Your thoughts please
Many thanks

A good question.

I saw a devaluation of the U.S. dollar of 30-40% forecast and your beloved Mr. Blair has decided to tie the U.K. economy to the U.S.A( and engage in a rather expensive war which is nothing to do with us), rather than Europe which is why sterling is dropping in spite of the relatively healthy state of the U.K. economy.

Like us you are seeing your savings/pension falling and prices here rising discouraging transfer of money from sterling to Euro, which is why it becomes necessary to earn income in euros -- please be generous when you see me cleaning car windscreens at Lagoa traffic lights next week with my wife in rags and 10 hired urchins with her to get your sympathy.

Hi Roy4

Just have to transfer huge amount of money for casa in next month.

Mr Blair has just spent our "B" furniture allowance

Trouble is even if we were paid in Euros, they take the value against the Stg£...so am still no better off.

Pig n' Panic

Good job you don't want to transfer some pounds into Aussie dollars. I do, but am waiting, but keep seeing it go down and down - when we last went the exchange rate was 2.88, but now it is down to 2.30. Happy days - it's the link to the American dollar again.
