Hi all,

Can I just say what an informative website you have put together here..

I was hoping somebody could help me on my small predicament. I have a property which is adjacent to my neighbour's house and wanted to buy a bit of her land 200m squared to extend a couple of bedrooms into.

I have been told by some people that plots of land have numbers on them and that you can not buy a piece of that number but you have to buy the whole plot. Others say this is not so, does anyone know or have had similar problems ????

Much appreciated

Simon

In my experience you cannot normally sub-divide a piece of land with only one Land Registry number, so you would probably have to buy the whole plot.

The câmara or conservatorio would be able to give you more information.

The matrix (registration) for my property shows it was part of a bigger plot that was sub-divided. If you think about it most developments are. However, the council in Lagoa are the best people to tell you.

Cheers for the info guys,

This seems to concur with the previous people I have asked 50/50

Obviously a large development of villas will be a large plot that has been sub-divided, but when it is an individual plot I think you'll find that it is not possible.

Good luck anyway.
