time heals so they say but im not so sure. How do you repair a great and long standing friendship? I was asked this by a very close friend whos thoughtless words and actions damaged such a friendship.
I didnt know what to say except that there is always hope. That given time the other person would forgive. That without hope life wouldnt be worth living.
To err is human to forgive is divine.Hope my friend doesnt have to wait too long.

Sad,
It depends on the circumstances. Was this "injured" friend betrayed? ie did you take her girl/boy friend and betray their trust?
"True" friends in the sense of the word in time I hope would forgive, but a genuine "sorry" is always a good place to start.
Think of a scab.....if you keep dressed properly give it the right attention and leave it alone..it will heal . Picking away at it...it will never heal just fester. But depending o how deep the wound is, there may always be a scar.
Good luck
Kind regards
Piglet

there was no taking of boy/girlfriend piglet. it wasnt that sort of relationship. from what I know,a stupid game that went just a step too far.was no longer funny.
but my friend is so full of remorse, most importantly that the other person was hurt by it all is. so very sorry and has said so time and again. but think your words are very wise. about letting time do its work,a time for healing..
noone could be more sorry and is finding the pain difficult to bear.
thankyou for your help.
smoke gets in your eyes?its there all the time at the moment

I'm sure it's nothing but a couple of girlie forum members having a little tiff

Intrigued? My guess is that they (he/she) is hoping that.and Im wondering if "sad" is the person involved and not the friend? either way its a sad message.
I hope the outcome will be a bit happier than it sounds as present.

Some chance if he/she has any wit. To forgive is devine? Since when? Would have thought once bitten twice shy is more apt

Realist?more like miseryia-list!wot a nasty negative attitude. I would like to think in a long friendship and this one sounds a bit more than friendship to me! that there would be some forgiving for old times sake alone. I know I would and I have, even though it was something very bad that occured more than once. Otherwise I could not have moved forward myself. But thats only my humble opinion and the way I am.
You say youre a realist? hope youre happy with that. Ive forgiven my enemies and Im not even a Christian.

Communication is the band aid for all wounds - difficult though when the other party won't communicate...
good luck, sad. Hope things turn out for the better.... otherwise just move on.... life is too short.

To err is human to forgive is ... etc
Time heals most things, and I'm sure that 'Sads' friend didn't mean to upset or hurt her friend, circumstances sometimes cause us to do strange things. Don't worry 'Sad', as we say in the north - 'It will all come out in the wash'
