Carvoeiro week-end

Post by Mike Gibbons »

Just returned from Carvoeiro yesterday (Sunday 12/01/03) after four brilliant days to celebrate a birthday. Flew with bmibaby.com from Cardiff at £12.50 all in each way, what a bargain. Arrived Thursday with weather changeable but from Friday onwards didn't see a cloud although the breeze was a little cool.
Many thanks to Cafe Matabixo (above the original bank in the square) for their hospitality. A good few hours spent eating and drinking in splendid sunshine was a tonic to be savoured.
Will be back in March and looking forward to it.

Glad you had a great weekend! We also use cheap flights for long weekends - definitely to be recommended!! Glad you had the sun too! We're also flying bmibaby from Cardiff, same price in Feb! This time we're staying a week which is great - I really hope the sun shines for us too!! I've been before a few years ago in Feb and we had brilliant weather. Let's hope it happens again too! Keep watching those prices!! :)

February trip

Post by Kev and Shirl »

Mike you are the undisputed Carvoeiro Meister!
We all bow to your superior knowledge of the area.
After a dreadfull visit in September we find ourselves drawn again and have booked a six day trip from Feb 12th.
We too have got great filght deal Easy Jet going and BMI return.
This time though we are staying at the Sol any comments?
Who would you use for airport transfers and what cost?
We will have that drink one day and how are the newly weds.

Kind regards,
Kev and Shirl.

February Trip

Hi Kev & Shirl
Good to hear from you again.
One of these Carvoeiro breaks we'll have that drink together!!!!!!
Have stayed in the Sol once when our villa was full for just three days, food was quite good and rooms clean and very acceptable. The big bonus is its position, right in the middle of town and yet still quiet and peaceful. You will enjoy.
When it comes to transfers, we've only ever used hire cars, the latest being attached to the bmibaby web site. Used this service twice now and have always found them efficient. Would love to use the local bus transport from the airport to get to know local life, but, as always, wanting to get to Carvoeiro as quickly as possible, without hassle, has been a priority. Taxis I'm told are good but expensive, so car hire seems to be sensible. Sorry not much help there.
The newly weds are doing fine, I'll tell them you asked.
Have a brilliant time, the weather will be wonderful, but in any case you'll be in Carvoeiro, what more can anyone want!!!!
Best wishes
Margaret & Michael (Gibbons)

We also have stayed in the Sol (last Nov) and are going to stay there in Feb again (which reminds me I haven't booked yet!!). Did you get the special deal by quoting this website? Mike is right - the position is brilliant and you watch the world go by and you're dead opposite the icecream shop - couldn't be better! As the price includes breakfast, you only have to buy an evening meal as there's plenty and you can take what you don't eat for lunch!! We arrive on the 20th - when are you leaving? Jos

Forgot to say - we didn't need taxis or a car as you're so central. It also means your stay is really relaxing as you don't feel you have to drive off anywhere! I think we paid about 45 euros each way from airport, which might seem a lot, but it's worth it. If you can travel with just hand luggage you can walk out the airport, get a taxi and be in Carvoeiro by the time the luggage is on the carousel!! When you're there for only a short time extra sun means a lot!! Make sure you agree the fare before you get in the taxi - we were done by a driver called Nelson once - never again!! He hasn't realised he's not a Formula 1 driver yet!! Jos

I have used Paulo Lapa who advertises on this site - send him an e-mail and he will be waiting for you at the airport, he also advertises his charges on the site so you know what to expect to pay. He is very good - a sensible driver and speaks good english.

Thanks for the trans' tips

Thanks Jos and Ktee.
Yes we got the deal thru the web site thanks Jos.
Have seen the Sol on many of our stays in Carvoeiro thanks for confirming our thoughts. Unfortunately we only have 12th to 17th, work commitments! My wife does not understand the meaning of hand luggage but thanks for the tip.
Will try Paulo thanks Ktee, interesting web site by the way.
Big Hi to the Meister if you are online tonight.

Did you know that BMI baby are axing the Cardiff-Faro service from the end of March and using the planes to fly to Paris or something equally stupid. If, like me you are annoyed, dissappointed or stronger, please do as I have done and contact them with your opinion. They seem to have axed it just as everyone started to discover it. Maybe we can make them see sense.

Keep Cardiff - Faro flights going!

Now that is bad news!! We're flying from Cardiff in just over 4 weeks and it's brilliant! I'll definitely be writing an email!! Jos

bmibaby flights

Post by Mike Gibbons »

Hi All,
This lack of bmibaby flights to Faro has hit a lot of Carvoeiro hearts let alone Algarve visitors.
I have already expressed my disappointment via 'e' mail to bmibaby, and will keep on doing so again and again.
Maybe if we all keep having a go, it will eventually get to the powers that be, who knows?
It could be a waste of time, but what the hec, lets keep it up.
Its not just the cost but the convenience out of Cardiff
Regards to All
