Can anyone advise me on the recipe for Casa Algarvia's mushroom starter? It's a simple dish but delicious. I've tried to re-create it back home (as you do!!) but there seems to be something missing.

Cheeky, guest. I havent been to Casa Algarvia but tell me roughly whats in the mushroom thing. Is it cold mushrooms, or warm, are they in a sauce, creamy, tomato-y, what?

April, are you thinking, mushrooms, bacon and cream sauce kind of thing or mushrooms a la greque, tomatoes, onions etc? but warm
We recently went to Casa Algarvia and now I'm depressed that I didn't have them, can somebody go please soon and tell us what they are!
Perhaps this is the first project for G, Kteee and Biffa - The food Police

April - Tricky was on the right lines with the mushrooms, bacon and cream sauce. I fried some garlic in butter, then added the bacon bits, followed by the mushrooms and single cream and then baked in the oven for a while. Am I missing some vital spices or something?

I think the missing ingredient is Algarve sunshine and Portuguese waiters. It'll never taste the same without these.

I think you may have something there e-richard!

The mushrooms I make sound similar to Casa Algarvia's, and to Guests
I use mushrooms, garlic, bacon and a stilton cheese sauce - perhaps its the cheese that is missing? - don't know what the Algarve alternative is to strong cheese.
