The move to Portugal is finally sorted for later in the year, but one BIG factor still to be arranged is.... what about the cat :?:

Has anyone got any experience of moving from the UK to Portugal with a cat? How easy is it do arrange and how did the cat take to the environment and the heat etc. I have already considered that it may not be a good move for the cat and have arranged UK adoption as a last resort....

My daughter moved here last year with her cat who has settled very well in her Portuguese home. We also have friends who moved to Carvoeiro with two cats and they have also adapted very well.

We actually brought our two dogs with us. There are of course requirements to be ahered to regarding jabs, pets passport etc. but if you contact DEFRA in the UK in good time, before you are due to leave, they are very helpful and will advise you.

We are also planning to move with our cat. I haven't sorted anything out yet but I don't think its too difficult. I hope not as we are moving fairly soon (6-8 weeks).

Our cat loves the hot weather in the UK so I hope he enjoys it just as much in the Algarve.
