Can anyone reccomend any place in the Algarve which is good for snorkelling ???

Anywhere along the coast I think. I know a few guys use Benagil beach as there are good rocks there. They mostly go after octopus though so it is more a business than pleasure

It was sarcastic --- but also obvious, I don' t know of anywhere near carvoeiro where you cant enjoy snorkelling, provided the sea is not too choppy.

Jonnie, there is a good beach for this called " Senhora da Rocha " near Hotel Viking . Armação de Pera .
Looking towards the sea turn left down.

Used to scuba dive overthere and at only approx. 4 metres deep beautifull fauna and rockformations, lots of fish. Specially at night with torch lots of life under water. Also outside showers and nice beachbar.,
