My wife and I are spending more time in Carvoeiro and are looking to get involved in the local community, possible to make new friends.

Are there any local links, groups or events that we can get involved in?

The rambling group. If that's your thing, is a great way to meet people. See board index under events

Lots of charities to get in with, the church meeting groups, tennis club, golf clubs, walking groups, coffee morning listed, look up in the free paper and you will find lots of things happening. Go to any cafe/restaurant and you will meet loads of people and start chatting and find out what and where things are happening.
Set up a group yourself and get people to come along, put the advert in the local freebie and online to things like this website and others.
