Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone knows if any of the car hire companies supply sat navs when hiring a car or would we be best buying one? Thanks.

We have had Renault Clios from Travelrent that include a built in satnav, but you can't guarantee getting one.
We bought a Garmin nuvi55LM, covers all western europe, about £80 from Halfords which does the trick.

Problem solved. We weren't sure of which sat nav would cover Portugal if we were to buy one but we will find the one you mentioned in Halfords. Hopefully it doesn't give directions in Portuguese

Well, it could do....plus about 20 other languages,but fortunately including English.....

If you have a smart phone then load the Co-Pilot app - it uses the same maps and text to speak as a dedicated sat nav but can either be free on Android (for 1 country) or small charge on i-phone. I used to use a dedicated sat nav in Portugal but now don't bother. Co-Pilot is also very good if you are walking in a city/town.

Does it teach tourist how to use there INDICATORS also???????????
