Having just returned from Carvoeiro, I admit I was impressed by the understated Christmas symbols. I say symbols because many of the decorations were in fact large sparkly balls on posts. What was lovely about it though was that the religious presence was everywhere. From life sized statues to nativity scenes in Lagoa and guia. There was no panic buying or crowds at algarve shopping either. To return to the uk on Monday and been throw into a materialistic Xmas was a very big culture shock! I know where I'd rather spend Xmas
