We have a holiday planned for late May to Cyprus  and Carvoeiro   in September and do not intend to cancel unless forced   to do so.

I think that life needs to go on as normal as possible, although the problems cannot be ignored. Lets hope that this situation can be sorted as soon as possible for every ones sake.

We are already starting to see reports of new spam email and of email viruses using references to the events in Iraq to encourage people to open emails they would normally ignore.

For example, the Ganda worm currently being reported in the media comes as an e-mail attachment with subject lines such as "Spy pics" and "GO USA !!!!".

Some emails claim to contain pictures of Iraq taken by spy satellites and others offer screensavers mocking President Bush.

It is likely that others will seek to exploit the world-wide interest in this regrettable situation in a similarly cynical way.

While I am normally quite cynical about virus warnings (too many of the warnings themselves are hoaxes), this one comes from an impeccable source. Please do take care.

It was during the last Gulf War that I was booked to take myself and kids on holiday to Egypt. At the last moment, we though this may be a bad idea and the only thing that the travel agent could offer us was a week in the Algarve. We had never been to the Algarve before.

Now we have a villa in Carvoeiro, and visit perhaps 5-6 times a year.

So war did in some sense affect us and Carvoeiro. But definitely for the good :D

Here's to many other happy outcomes from this unfortunate conflict.

Sorry but its going to take a lot more than a war to stop me from coming out to my beloved Carvoeiro...ive made so many friends in the last year or so( as many as many old ones too!) that Ive fallen in love in with portugal and i cant wait for easter!..so if war does get worse..lets hope it means I can get there..if I had to stay a little longer.I wouldnt lose too much sleep over it!! 8)
