Tourist /Financial Statistics

Can somebody direct me at a credible source for Tourist/Financial statistics for 2003 for Cvo (if the exist) or the Algarve as a whole. The sort of information I am seeking is the average number of visitors during the entire year - high and low season, the average amount spent by the visitors (broken down by accommodation and other), the proportion that use car hire etc

I am attempting to put together an intelligent submission to the Finance Ministry to highlight the major reduction in holiday visitors, as opposed to football types caused by the fiscal policies they introduced last year.

Dare I mention those who have taken a 'hit' on the value of their property if they were in a blacklisted offshoe jurisdiction?

From the many Cvo business people I have spoken with, they claim their business is down a good 30% overall on the previous year. Can anybody help :?:

Thank you for your reply - I don't suppose you would know where I can get a hold of this info in English?

….hi td..…I saw your post yesterday whilst reading a little story in The Portugal News about…. “……..a drop of around ten per cent in comparison to the same period last year……….”, with a mention of some industry association (AIHSA); and very quickly came up with a couple of links for you ……..I don’t know if they can give the kind of info you are looking for….. as much as I enjoy statistics, I am not qualified to advise………I wish you luck……..and hope to see the outcome of your research published here on forum………..

Here is some data by world region but only through last december

http://www.world-tourism.org/frameset/f ... stics.html

Unfortunately, it appears PT is not a member of the WTO.

One would expect to find stuff here:

http://www.opic.gov/links/countryInfo.a ... egion=euro

click on item 72, National Inst of Statistics

Click What's New

Tourism and Restaurants – Synthetic Data
Apr/2004

Some good looking data here although I can't seem to copy it for you.
It shows, for example, Room Revenues down a small amount for April 03 vs April 04 while for the period Jan-Apr 03 vs Jan-Apr04 they are up slightly.

Might help with your project. The site seems to have a lot of other good general data..

:)

Thank You
