Will be coming down end of January. Wondering what is the price of gasoline in your area. Also noticed in the write up about Christmas decorations no mention of Happy's being open this time of the year. Is that correct and if so when will he reopen? Thanks and all have a Merry Christmas.

Lib normally closes for a couple of weeks over xmas new year sometimes for a while longer,he may be open at the end of Jan.Petrol and Diesel should have come down in price as it has done in the UK Petrol £1.13 was £1.25 a couple of weeks ago Diesel £1.19 was £1.28 so prices should have followed.

Thanks PTBUXTON for the reply. Nice to know Happy's will be open end of January. With so many places closed we will have to make a determination where to go to eat.
Can you be more detailed in your gasoline prices. As I will only be flying through Heathrow and being Canadian, I am interested in comparing Canadian gas prices to prices found in the Algarve. Here in Ottawa our gas is selling as low as $0.92 a litre, which is equivalent to .64 euro/litre. Is gas sold in the Algarve in gallons or litres?

I am sure diesel was 1.06 per litre at Jumbo today. Petrol is a few cents more. All is in litres. I will have a look tomorrow on the way to the beach for the price of gas.

Typical prices at the moment are gasoleo €1.10 and gasolina €1.21. The cut price stations at Pao de Acucar and Aqua are less than this by 4 or 5 cents.

Can't meet you dennisg at Happy's on the 20th as we fly out late on the 20th. It is an overnight flight to Heathrow then we transfer to Gatwick and arrive in Faro later in the afternoon. Better half says it is too rushed to go to Happys that evening. Have to enjoy his place when we have recovered from travelling through the time zones.
It appears Britain and western Europe is getting hit by winter storms. Reversal of what we have here in Canada. Temperature has gotten up to 7 degrees the last few days and the snow is almost gone. Preview of the Algarve. We do not have to wear winter boots. However, the forecast for the end of the upcoming week is for the temperature to be going down to minus 20 and more.

My local cheapo garage is selling Petrol @ 110.9 and diesel at 116.9 - makes it seem like we have gone back by a few years - mind, I can still remember buying 4 gals of 5* for £1 in mid 60's.

The village!, it's not a village it's a TOWN (official), Buxton is a village.

How does the cheap petrol reflect in the car hire deals?

Incorrect 20,000 population Buxton is a small to medium town with a bit of class.

I always think of it as Royston Vasey A little place for local people with local shops.
