Is Carvoeiro Motorhome friendly? If so, are there decent places to park near to the centre? Anyone know where the nearest camp site is?
Cheers
Steve

OK, after reading half of a thread I must point out that I am not looking for free parking, especially overnight. I am looking for an official site close to Carvoeiro if there is one and if not, a parking area for day visits, just as you would park a car although I would need a larger space.

We went past a big motor home park in Portimao the other day. It was down near the water. Don't ask me where because we were lost at the time.

2 x. Sue, thank you both. No immediate plans, MoHo ordered in October so wont get it until March/April. First wee while will be UK just to get used to it then the world's our ogster

we have a long way down to get to CVO so planning will be crucial. Will give you a shout when we decide to come then perhaps you can share your route with me.
Cheers,

Hi there,
There is a fab motorhome /camping place we know very well, but b4 you get your hopes up tis not in CVO, or even near it.
Why do I mention it you ask, it is in Cabanas de Tavira, where we go once a year, when I can manage it. The apt we rent overlooks the camp site which is rather a good one with a great little resturant/ coffee shop and a huge pool. We have friends that live there permanently and others that come and go.
Tis right on the coast near the Spanish border, tis on the flat and the little fishing village reminds us of what CVO must have been like 20 years or so ago. A few nasty apts etc have been built but it is still predominately a fishing village with a great board walk for promenading along, a good smattering of eating and drinking holes of various guises and pretty sure you will like it. Quite a few Brits and Irish, along with the Germans etc
Can give you more info if you require it along with some other MH sites along the coast and a few in the Alentejo district.

I have seen motorhomes parked on the cliffs at Benagil. They are not there legally, of course.

There is a motorhome site in Silves, a camping park in Ferragudo and a motorhome site in the marina next door to the Tivioli hotel in Portimão.
If you want to park up just for the day, either Algo Seco area or the Monte Carvoeiro area, both of which have ample parking spaces.
Safe driving
