Where are you located?
We ar at Vale Covo and a dog is left tied up there to guard an empty house with small orchard. It barks at the slightest thing

Experienced the usual Monte CVO dawn chorus the other week when we stayed up there.
The dogs barking seemed to be worse this year compared to other years. I guess the Portuguese dont give a flying do-da if their mutts keep barking.

We stayed in a lovely villa on VDM - 2 weeks of sleepless nights due to one barking dog!
I am a dog lover but this was just too much!

When we rented Mike's villa on ADM, two dogs opposite (belonging to Chico) would bark all day and night at the slightest thing. It was bloody awful. We later rented pato's villa . . . and got much of the same from the same two dogs.
You're correct, bruce, they do spoil your holiday.

It is obviously a common problem as I mentioned it to the rental company and this was their reply :-
''We do hope that you had a good holiday and hope to hear from you again in the future. Thank you for your lovely comments. We are currently working with the Camara (local council) to try and rehome the stray dogs and also ask nearby owners to try and keep the noise from their dogs to a minimum. ''
We have never had this problem at Pato's place

That's a surprise. They were a bloody nuisance when we were there.

Michael, as you know I also rented Mike's villa over at ADM and "experienced" the same two dogs. I also rented another villa across the road and having had two years of the incessant barking from these two particular dogs I vowed not to return to that particular area of town. It does appear barking dogs in CVO is prevalent all over town, it was just particularly bad by the junction in question at ADM. Something needs to be done as it does impact on the holiday enjoyment

Lamby, it sounds like bruce was lucky not to have been bothered by them. We had six years of them (well, six holiday periods).
Funny thing was, even though the dogs would bark if the wind changed . . . . Chico was burgled one day while he was out and the dogs didn't bark!

Must be the cooler weather - we go to Monte Cravoeiro every July and don't hear a thing.

our apartment is in the CVO centre overlooking the beach> I seem to think it's coming from Monte Carvoeiro up that ares but sound travels so not sure. Started again about 08:30 till abut 10:30 now stopped. It will prob start again as sson as owner goes out. There are a couple of days she you hear nothing, the it starts again...I think it's she they go out and leave it outside. Poor mutt.

We were staying next to the main hub of Monte Cavoeiro, from 20th to 29th, wasn't that much bothered by dogs, seemed to be more over by Monte Durado area. And does someone in CVO have a cockerel??? I'm sure heard one above the noise of the dog!!!
